2014-2015 McAlester Public School Enrollment Information

Per the McAlester Public Schools website enrollment dates are as follows:

Early Childhood, Elementary, Parker and Puterbaugh
Tuesday, July 29 Wednesday, July 30
 12:00 - 6:00 pm 8:00 - 2:00

Thursday July 31 Friday August 1
 Seniors 12-3 pm Sophomores 12-3 pm
 Juniors 3-6 pm Freshmen 3-6 pm
*** Freshmen Orientation 6:00 -8:00 - Smith Center

New students to MHS and those who can't make it on other days can enroll at
MHS - Monday August 4.

William Gay Cleanup

William Gay Early Childhood center is getting parents/faculty together to help cleanup the school and do some painting. They would appreciate any help you can provide. They are asking that you meet at the school at 9:00 a.m. on July 12th.

Let's get the school ready for all those bright and shinning faces.

This tournament is coming to Lake Eufaula and the SE Expo with professional fishermen from 8 states trying to get the biggest catch.

Movies are scheduled to air at dark in Chadick Park.  Movies will be cancelled if it rains.

Weekend Roundup

Kiamichi Quilt Show

The Kiamichi Quilt Show in McAlester is a great opportunity to shop
dozens of quilting vendors, win fabulous door prizes and see 100 amazing
quilts expertly crafted by local quilters. The McAlester event is set in
beautiful southeast Oklahoma and promises to be an exciting competition
as judges will take a critical look at these gorgeous pieces of fabric
art. The event also features a bake show and craft show. For more

Spooktacular Haunted Hayride

October 25-October 26 Round up the family and head to Robbers Cave State
Park for a fun and spooky experience. The Spooktacular Haunted Hayrides
take guests on an exciting ride through the Haunted Forest on the
grounds of the beautiful state park. Just in time for cooler weather,
board a festive hayride for a memorable tour of the park. Rides will
depart from the stables between 7pm and 9:30pm on Friday and Saturday
night and food concessions will be available on site.

Sasquatch Sightings Hayride

Saturday, October 26th from 7:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m. Get in the Halloween
mindset with a terrifying fun trip through the dark at the Sasquatch
Sightings Hayride. Located at the Arrowhead State Park Riding Stables,
guests of all ages are encouraged to come out on Saturday nights and
have a great time looking for the mysterious Bigfoot, amongst other
ghouls and goblins. After you've made the rounds, take part in a free
marshmallow roast and enjoy the festive atmosphere. An on-site
concession with drinks and snacks will also be available.

City of McAlester-Movies in the Park

The City of McAlester will be hosting the Movies in the Park Saturday,
October 26th, at Chadick Park at dark.  Come dressed as your favorite
monster. There will be free Halloween Candy passed out before the show
starts. In case of rain the movie will be cancelled.

Trick or Treat-Party in the Street

McAlester Main Street Downtown Trick or Treat Celebration will be held
on Saturday, October 26th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Choctaw Avenue.
There will be Games, Activities, Cakewalk, Pumpkin Decorating Contest,
Pet Parade, MHS Pom & Cheer will perform, and Free Hot Dogs (while
supplies last). Tickets for activities are only .25 each.

Make a Difference Day

Make a Difference Day will be held Saturday, October 26th from 7:30 am
to 2 pm Volunteers will meet at the Boys and Girls Club on 3rd and Chadick.
Volunteers needed to assist residents with minor home repairs and tasks
such as:

Install and test smoke alarms.
Cover windows and doors with plastic.
Weather-strip around exterior doors.
Install furnace filters, lubricate door hinges / locks, replace burned
out light bulbs.
Mow, weed-eat, rake leaves, etc.
